Overview
Essaouira is a straight run west on the coast road: a walled port town you can cover in an afternoon, with the wind and the gulls doing most of the work.

Day by day
A representative plan. Every trip is adjusted to your dates, your pace and what you want to see.
1
The day
Casablanca to Essaouira on the coast road
You leave Casablanca early and run west to the coast. It is roughly four hours to Essaouira with one stop on the road, so the morning is mostly driving. You arrive around midday.
The afternoon covers the walled port: the lanes, the harbour below the ramparts where the boats come in, and the workshops behind the main streets. You finish on the long beach outside the walls, then drive back and reach Casablanca late.
Good to know
Pace and driving
Roughly four hours each way, so most of the day is in the car. It is the same road in both directions and there is little to stop for between the two cities.
When it works
Best as its own day from a Casablanca stay. If your time in Morocco is short, the day trip out of Marrakech is the shorter run to the same town.
Who it suits
People who do not mind a long drive and want the Atlantic, the harbour and a long beach in the same day. Not one for a slow morning.
