Best Time to Visit Morocco

01. Spring (March–May): peak season for good reason

Spring is ideal for most visitors: 15–25°C, wildflower countryside, and the Sahara pleasantly warm by day and cool by night. Crowds are high in April, so book hotels and tours 2–3 months ahead.

The medinas are explorable without melting — perfect for wandering the souks. You might even catch the Rose Festival in the Valley of Roses in May.

02. Summer (June–August): coastal escape

Coastal cities hit 20–28°C with fresh breezes, while interiors and the desert top 35–45°C. The best zones are Essaouira, Tangier, Agadir and Asilah.

If the Sahara is a priority, summer is uncomfortable — we honestly advise against a mid-summer dune trek.

03. Autumn (September–November): the sweet spot

Autumn offers September's perfect desert weather, October's ideal hiking and date harvest, and November's mild temperatures and best prices. Fewer crowds than spring, golden Atlas landscapes.

04. Winter (December–February): Morocco's secret

Winter means mild weather in most destinations — Marrakech 12–20°C, the Sahara 15–20°C by day (near freezing at night), plus winter sports in the Atlas and Ifrane's ski resort.

You get the best accommodation deals and practically private attractions. December and January offer the clearest desert skies for stargazing.

05. Timing by destination

Marrakech: spring or autumn. Sahara: October to April. Fes and Chefchaouen: spring and autumn, especially April–May. Coastal cities like Essaouira and Agadir: summer (June–September).

06. Budget considerations

High season (March–May, October) is 40–60% more for accommodation; shoulder season (September, November) is 20–30% cheaper; low season (July–August, January–February) offers the best deals — up to 50% off.
